If you are a person who has an interest in making custom soaps, you probably will try using cold process method when you are doing it. A few different varieties are there to be used in order to give your soaps different looks.
One of the most popular types of mold is the wooden log soap mold. This type is constructed using a hard wood, such as pine or poplar. You will have to use a removable lid like a shoe box if you want to make a shape of a long rectangular box. Then, you will use a release to line the box which means that this can be a plastic-coated paper or a custom silicone mold. This is because it’s able to make the soap to be removed easily after it has hardened. Thus, after the box is lined, the next thing you should do is to pour the saponified soap mixture into the log mold. Once it’s hardened, the soap resembles a loaf of bread. When this s happens, you can cut it into 1″ thick bars to cure for several more weeks.
There is another type of wooden soap mold. It is called the slab mold. This type of mold is also made from hard wood. Its shape is like a flat rectangle with dividers inside. You can use slab molds without interior dividers and you can cut the bars later. You can also use cookie cutters if you want to create fun shapes. There are also soap molds that are constructed from silicone materials.
