Background: Anemia leads to unwanted outcomes in pregnancy, partum, and purpuerium. The most common cause of anemia in pregnancy is iron deficiency. Hematocrit may predict the severity of anemia. Glicyne, one of the components in hemoglobin synthesis, is predicted to enhance iron absorption that may increase the hematocrit value.
